New temporary exhibit!!!!  We are highlighting our CASA program with IS93.  "Exploring Historic Ridgewood". 

See how the students re-created colonial lifeways and activities, explored historic remnants throughout the neighborhood, and repurposed artifacts into art during this exciting after school initiative supported by NYC Council District 30 through the Department of Cultural Affairs.  Exhibit starts June 1. Exhibit curated by Chrysalis Archaeology and GRHS, Caitlin McDonough and Emily Caspari.

 

New exhibit additions:  circa 1854 Photo of Gertrude Onderdonk Schoonmaker and Nicholas Schoonmaker and their 3 children.  Gertrude was the daughter of Ann and Adrian Onderdonk who built the frame addition and lived in the Onderdonk House in the mid 1800's to the turn of the century. 

Spring & Summer Hours for the Onderdonk House, starting March 10!!! Hours for both Saturday and Sunday will be 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Hours for Wednesday will be 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Guided tours available. Suggested donation is $3.00, Members, Service men and women are always free!!!   Like us on FACEBOOK for updates:

Hours:   HOURS  - Saturdays & Sundays 1 - 5 PM, Wednesdays 3 - 7 PM.    History and Geneaology Resource Rooms are also open. Guided and self-guided tours available.  Suggested Donation $3.00 per person.  Members are free. Veterans and Active Service members are free. First floor and bathroom facilities are accessible for individuals with disabilities.  

EXHIBITS:  Richard Asbell has re-installed our permanent exhibit, “Unearthed at the Onderdonk House – Artifacts from the 1970's Archaeology Investigations” and added additional material including photos of the other colonial houses along Flushing Avenue.

"What is Archaeology?" - Exhibit on tools, methodology and GRHS archtifacts, in particular, stained glass from Louis Comfort Tiffany factory in Corona, Chrysalis Archaeology and Arianna Stimpfl, curators
